NUEVO DESARROLLO DE KING COMPOSITE: MAXI FURLING BOOMS

Last month King Composite shipped to Uruguay two beautiful Furling Booms: one 16.5mts & the other 14.0mts in length for the Doña Francisca, a 172 foot Javier Soto Acebal classic Schooner.

When we first started with this project, the goal was to get the sail to furl around the main as compactly as possible. “This was the base for the shape design, the philosophy of which was to reach the ideal equilibrium between a classic style and performance,” said Guillermo Ponzinibbio, Project Manager in Valencia. “We had several meetings with Matt Bridge from Doyle, Chris Mitchell from AES and Bernard Van Vliet from NSM in an effort to improve the geometry, hydraulic details and structure.” The key feature in the new design was the combination between style, hydraulic engine in the inboard end, and a minimum volume in the light shell structure.
After several months of design and floor work, King Composite is proud to ship these two detail-perfect Booms, the result of a team of professionals.

We would like to thank the owner of the boat, Juan Carlos Lopez Mena, who once again placed his trust in KING COMPOSITE.

Soto 172´ Schooner Doña Francisca

King Composite builds rigging set for this superyacht in Buenos Aires facility.

The boat designed by Javier Soto Acebal is intended for deep ocean sailing, being driven by the owner and a shorthanded crew. Generous displacement (130 T), high form stability and low center of gravity will give a pleasant ride. Hull construction is in Carbon/epoxy improving their ballast/displacement ratio. The interior, simple and spacious shows a classic style.
This massive rig will feature two masts with roughly 700 mm long section; the mizzen mast is 50mts tall. Both masts will be equipped with furling booms. Due to the massive loads most of the halyards will work on locks. The boat also carries a 10mts long bowsprit.

New King Composite mast on Maxi 80 by Vismara Yachts.

The revolutionary project has no precedents, and was created in cooperation with the Vismara Design Team and the famous Florentine designer Luca Dini,
The new Maxi V80 Luce Guida was launched in early June with a full set of King Composite spars. In a single-piece construction, the project has specific details in the design of the tensioners/ halyards/ internal German sheeting/ boom wings/ and lights distribution.
The sail plan has a very high aspect ratio, and it´s combined with a lightweight hull (27 tons displacement), deck layout and interior details, which makes this boat an extraordinary machine.
Congratulations to the owner of the new Maxi V80 Luce Guida and the Vismara Team for this new baby.
